16 Days Wrap up.

Over the 16 days of activism caswa did a number of awareness raising workshops.

Women in Nuclear

Workshop for the local Women in Nuclear group to raise awareness of the work that we are doing locally. A great interactive session with the group talking about domestic abuse and its impact. We'd like to thank Women in Nuclear for inviting us along to their second event in a beautiful venue, Thurso Library’s Quiet Room. They very kindly donated a fabulous raffle prize which we'll use for fundraising next year as part of our 15 years celebrations.

Head Teachers across the counties

We delivered a talk at the North Area Meeting for Head Teachers, which we entitled: “Domestic Abuse: What Educators Need to Know”. The talk followed on from an “information drop” to all schools in Caithness and Sutherland where all head teachers received key information and promotional literature about our service. This session sought to further raise awareness of the work that we are doing within our Children and Young People’s Team locally, convey the reality and impact of living with domestic abuse and support schools to understand the role that they can play in promoting gender equality and responding to domestic abuse.

Home Start Volunteers

We delivered a presentation to the Volunteers of Home Start, Discussing what domestic abuse looks like, how to recognise the signs and how to respond safely so as not to put themselves or the family in increased danger.
